It’s great that women can travel for free that’s what the government aimed as well, maybe women should all try to use it responsibly and only when they really need to. Making sure the buses are there for those who really need them is also a social responsibility that every citizen must follow. Because of all the women getting Free TSRTC Bus rides, some people who actually need to go to town for work are having a hard time finding seats on TSRTC buses.

Here are some instances that are happening due to free travel for women. A lady from Jagitya goes to Hyderabad once a week to give milk to her daughter. Normally, her bus ticket costs Rs. 300. But now, she’s traveling for free with a Rs. 300 ticket just to deliver milk worth Rs. 100. Similarly another lady traveled on a bus and went to another town just to buy a broom

So, ordinary passengers, like regular passengers just trying to get their jobs done, are having a really tough time getting seats. Even government women employees are using this free bus benefit, which is causing more crowding. Even auto drivers are losing their jobs because of all these free buses. It’s not just the government losing money, but regular passengers like us are suffering too. That’s why some people are forcing the government, maybe they should have half-price tickets for women like they do in Maharashtra.

Introducing free bus travel is a great initiative, but maybe we need to think about how it’s affecting everyone else too. Neither the RTC nor the government has decided what to do about it. The government is not planning on deciding until after the Lok Sabha elections. If the situation doesn’t come under control, the government will have to make half-price tickets for ladies’ passengers.

  7. See, nothing comes for free. Everything has a cost involved. This is just a politically motivated step. I am a senior citizen and used to avail bus service earlier but now I can’t fare to even enter a bus because of the ladies crowd.
It’s all a tax payers money that’s being misused.

  10. Bengaluru manages the free bus ticket scheme for women in Karnataka well because they have good organization, great number of buses, and safety features like “doors” on each bus. They focus on facts, not outdated ideas, to support women fairly. Also, the high charges and mistreatment by auto drivers highlight the need for fairness and safety for women.

  11. I am a senior citizen and cant stand in a bus. After free travel scheme for wemen the buses are so full with wemen and they occupy seats reserved for seniors.
I stopped using buses in hyderabad city and using cabs which i can hardly afford.
Something has to be done for this serios mess.
At least conductors must see that reserved seats are for them and also increase number of seats for male senior citizens

The government requires to either cancel free travel for ladies or increase the fleet considering the need for the men and for the real needy people.

  15. Auto driver charge insignificant rates. No particular rate card as followed in poona city.ladies face huge problem their too.Everywhere only ladies become scapegoat.Y……Their is a humble request that Ladies must adhere with rules- offering gents sec. seats to gents…so they can travel harmlessly. If mother is traveling with a child she must give it to her husband when husband finds a seat. The lady can stand by,.she Need not sit beside her husband in gent seat..
