TSRTC New Guidelines For Mahalakshmi Scheme

New Guidelines For Mahalakshmi Scheme
New Guidelines For Mahalakshmi Scheme

New guidelines for the Mahalakshmi Scheme have been released by TSRTC (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation) for women to avail of free travel tickets.
Women travellers need to present their original identity cards when availing of the Mahalakshmi free travel facility. The presented identity card should visibly display the passenger’s photograph and address.

Acceptable identity Proofs

Any original identity card issued by the Central and State governments is considered valid, it can be

  1. Aadhaar card
  2. Driving License
  3. Voter ID Card
  4. Indian Passport

A PAN card is not acceptable as it does not contain address information about the user.

It is important to note that, Presenting Color copies of the Identity proofs on the smartphone will not be entertained. The authorities at TSRTC highlight the importance of original documents, saying that colour photocopies on smartphones cause inconvenience and delays. So, it is a request for all female travellers to carry their original or photocopy of the original ID card proofs in hard copy, thus avoiding inconvenience to other passengers and TSRTC authorities.

Women travellers are noticed that obtaining a zero ticket with the original identity card is a must, as the government reimburses TSRTC based on the issuance of zero tickets.

If in case any female traveller travels without this zero ticket, she will be subjected to a fine of 500 Rs from the TSRTC Authorities. TSRTC ticket-checking staff will check and validate your ID proofs. Please ask for a zero ticket from them to your destination in case they forget to charge a zero ticket.

Every women traveller must coordinate with government travel rules for easy and smooth implementation of this Free TSRTC travel under the Mahalakshmi scheme thus helping other passengers for a smooth travel experience.

  2. Extending the free travel to Senior Citizens needs to be considered by the present Congress Government of Telangana. Needless to mention that it was promised by BRS government during the previous assembly elections bu did not fulfill the same.

    • Only Adhaar Card is seen but it belongs to whom is not checked. Actually only the needy people should be given concessions. If you are giving free travel to all classes then why not all the guarantees to all classes ? Their is mismatch in understanding and logic behind the six guarantees.

  5. Atleast some % of concession should be given in TSRTC express /semi luxury/AC buses
services to senior citizens. A seperate mahila buses to be provided for ladies, so that gents can travel with tickets freely. Mahila bus should stop every alternate stages, not on all stages.

  6. Government should accept copies of these Identity Cards or TSRTC should issue their own ID cards by charging a nominal fee after checking original ID Proof of travellers

RTA m-Wallet or any Digital ID should also be accepted for the convenience of travellers

  7. I kindly urge the Telangana government to consider offering complimentary transportation exclusively to economically disadvantaged women possessing a white ration card. Additionally, it would be beneficial to provide them with a free travel card, ensuring that the government’s budget is not burdened by reimbursing TSRTC for their travel expenses.

Try to give a little concession in bus fares to respect the Senior Citizens who travel less number of times and less distances.

  12. A very good tsrtc scheme, imposing a fine of Rs 500/- is not a solution. Don’t allow all women travelers free only needy persons and old age women who really deserve should be given. Why female students and women who can afford to pay bus fare should not given free on buses. Mr C M please think how revenue will generate to state. Which is more important for the state. Request you to extend the praja palan application submission date and announce the prominent centre so that people can easily submit their application. Thankyou

  13. 1) If this scheme’s objective is to provide a free state bus service for women, why is ID check and address check required as conditions? With these additional checks, the running of buses is also being delayed due to the need to check every person’s ID and issue zero ticket accordingly.
    2) This is discriminatory towards women whose domicile is in another state, but who are residing in and paying full state taxes within Telangana! Please remove such conditions.
    3) Please refer to Tamil Nadu free state bus service for women — it does not create any such conditions like holding Aadhaar/ID or checking address.
