Here are some recent developments in the Indiramma Indlu scheme

  • The scheme is targeting to build 4,50,000 houses across the state with 3500 houses planned under each constituency
  • To get the benefits under the Indiramma Indlu scheme, a ration card is mandatory
  • Beneficiaries will be selected based on the application data received from the Praja Palana Scheme and the selected beneficiaries identified in Gram Sabhas will receive the benefits of the Indiramma Indlu scheme sanctioned by the respective District Collector
  • The sanctioned house for the Beneficiaries will be under the woman’s name.
  • 5 lakh Financial assistance for the construction of the house will be provided in phases, which means that 1 lakh will be processed after the foundation of the house, another 1 lakh after the house reaches its roof level, upon completion of slab construction another 2lakh will be released and remaining 1 lakh will be provided after the completion of house construction

The government has decided to provide the benefits of the Indiramma Indlu scheme for rural people. Specifically, those who own land in villages and are Below the Poverty line will be given priority

However, concerns are raised when poor people who live in urban areas are excluded. The government is facing some issues for people in urban areas to grant the scheme benefits

One main thing is that people in urban areas especially in slums lack formal property documents or ration cards, so the government is planning to relocate them by building in-situ apartments and multi-story flats. The government is facing a funds shortage of 5000 Rs Crores to allocate funds for the construction of the house

The government is trying to address these issues to include poor urban beneficiaries under the Indiramma Indlu scheme. We can expect the guidelines and complete beneficiaries list after the parliamentary elections only
